Napping feels so good

I have been napping a lot lately and it feels so good. No kids to attend to, no classes to wait for at least an hour and just pure enjoyment of napping under the comforters in an air con room. Since I work from a home office, I can afford to take naps in between when I need to rest my eyes from the glare of the computer monitor. I can also hide myself in my room from pesky parents. No need to hear complaints of in-law problems that has happened so many years ago and my paternal grandma has already passed away in 2007. It is time to move on for a better life with the renewal of the mind each day. And I am going back to nap again after blogging this post. Ta!

Having a left shoulder back pain

Yesterday, the left shoulder back pain started and it was mild. Today it was more painful and I cannot turn or twist on the bed too much. Even stretching out my left hand brings some pain. I don’t know how it got started but I guess it was due to lying in the bed too much without moving. And yesterday, I was lying in bed almost the whole morning, skipping church as I thought the service would be boring. Nothing annointed unlike New Creation Church which has so much oomph and healing power. But the speaker was surprisingly a new person, also a member of the church. He was supposed to speak next week, but probably the current speaker chicken out and got him to speak 1 week earlier. Nowadays, they don’t follow schedule as the last time with the topic of message printed out clearly. That is why I have stopped tithing to my current church.

EON GSC credit card

I watched Avatar last night and it was simply amazing. And the movie only cost RM3.75 as I get 50% discount using my EON GSC platinum credit card with RM100 top up for all movies. This is simply the best deal ever and I don’t have to queue up to see the show. There was a separate counter for patrons with the GSC credit card - all you need to do is simply wave the card at a point of service and it was automatically deducted. Unlike Citibank where credit limit is much higher, EON bank’s credit limit is only 15,000 points to get a platinum card. I hope to watch Avatar 3D version this time after seeing the 2D version last night. It was a science fiction movie that is worth watching again. No wonder it hit the top in the box office recently.

Feel like going for a vacation

I just came back from KL for a business trip of 2-3 days. And I typed out 14 quotations in 2 days working until 11:30pm. In the afternoon, I followed my colleague to client’s project site to handle customer concerns and to rectify them. Hence, I feel like going for a vacation such as riviera maya family vacations. Working hard also requires a good break from all the work stress and demands. I guess I am Type “A” personality - needing to get everything done on time and a perfectionist. Therefore, this gives me added pressure to myself when working. As a result I need a good break which is long overdue and I have never taken leave in my 6 years of working except for the trip to China and to Bangkok with my parents and youngest sister. For the rest of the time, I am working the whole year.

This video reminds me of the movie that I have seen before - Alvin and The Chipmunks. And Christmas is 2 days to go. I am now having a short holiday here in Malaysia and will be back on 24th December, just before Christmas. The air outside is so cold and we don’t need the air con. Even while on holidays, the phone has been ringing non stop and I feel like I am still working today. I am currently staying on a high floor on the 24th floor. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my readers a Merry Christmas to one and all this season. Enjoy yourself while you can and celebrate health. For without health, we cannot work and have to stay bed ridden.

I have been to Genting before, the highest mountain resort with slot games in casinos. It is the tallest casino in the world with the world’s biggest hotel - First World Hotel having more than 6,000 rooms. Though it has so many rooms, most of them are like pigeon holes and very cramped inside. Just enough room to walk and do the necessary when staying there. The idea is to encourage you to gamble at their many casinos and not to stay in your hotel room. Even Singapore is copying Malaysia and building 2 casinos which are due for completion next year.

There is more to just presents, Santa Claus, christmas trees and all the merriment. Christmas is God’s precious gift to the world when baby Jesus was born to save mankind from eternal condemnation. It is God’s reconciliation to men who were hopelessly lost in this world and to bring them back to an eternal reunion with God the Father for whoever accepts Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Indeed accepting Jesus as my Lord and Saviour way back in 1985 was the best decision I have made that changed my entire destiny including my family and friends.

Going for a short holiday before Christmas

I shall be going for a short holiday just before Christmas after my trip to KL for work. I prefer to watch TV at home this Christmas

Christmas is exactly 1 week away and there are a lot of advertisements in the newspapers of combined churches performances and carollings in the various places. The Penang Chief Minister has been invited to attend as well and to open some of these functions. I have been looking forward to one particular event, but alas, I cannot attend anymore as I have to go to KL for work during that time. But the good news is that I will be home during Christmas and plan to watch the many interesting channels on Direct TV. There will be many Christmas themed programs on December 25 and I plan to just turn on the DirectTV and simply enjoy the wide repertoire of channels during this festive season.

This is even better than going to the movies where you have to queue up to buy your tickets, and wait for the show to start after parking your car somewhere. But with Directv, all you need is a tv screen and a cosy place to start enjoying the shows and various channels. What better place than right in the comforts of your own home, no matter how untidy and cluttered it is.

I might also attend church service for Christmas eve if I am up for it - otherwise I will just stay at home to watch tv. And it has been like this for the last 10 years since I came back from Singapore in 2000. I still miss the Orchard Road decorations, but home life is better - no more stress of staying alone with a wierd neighbour who cannot leave you alone or being out of a job several times. Those are history now and I am going to turn on the tv soon.

Going to KL for Business

I shall be off to KL tomorrow for business as our current jobs are finishing soon and we need to look for more sports projects to keep our 5 Indonesian workers busy. They are young and work fast - very diligent. And I have just sent out hundreds of calendars to potential clients before Christmas. I have done my best and the rest is up to the people and the managers. Hopefully some of these potential clients will contact us for sports courts to be installed. The conversion rate is normally 2%. But so far it is not even 1%. I hope the postmen have really done their jobs and delivered all the hundreds of calendars for us. It was repetitive work for me to slot in the calendars plus marketing letter into the many envelopes, chop our company address on the top left corner and pasting the 50 cent stamps for delivery.

Now PESTA is open in Penang every year end during the December holidays. It is a trade show with different exhibitors like trade show flooring, plus a host of other products. There is also a trade show carpet with many mats and carpets selling a below the market price. PESTA is an annual event held in Penang to attract the tourists from other states who flock to this place for their bargains like logo mats, food, entertainment, amongst a host of other things. I love going to PESTA penang as sometimes there are also the Chinese acrobatic circus shown to the public for a fee. As Penang is a small state, it depends on tourists dollars to run its economy. There are also big multinational corporations in Bayan Lepas that hire the brains of Penang setting up their factories here. And my youngest sister is one of the staff being employed by the MNCs. She is doing well and even getting promotion the last time.

Time for Home Entertainment

I was about to watch Christmas Carol, 3D in the cinemas last night but something cropped up and there was a delay. So I have decided to stay at home and get entertained with watching Direct TV which was installed at home. I am in a Christmassy mood just watching this Youtube video of King of Pop Elvis singing ‘Blue Christmas’. It is time for a merry celebration and festive season. I love Christmas when baby Jesus was born on 25th December - God’s gift to mankind and for the salvation of souls. With Santa Claus, presents and Christmas trees lighted up, it is a time of jubilation the world over. It represents triumph over defeat, light over darkness. And I am glad of being a Christian since 1985 - the year I was converted from a Buddhist. I know I have eternal life in heaven as I am called to return home one day. So much work but so little time

I have to maximise my time working at home. That means more productive work and less naps. Every year end, I always have plenty of work to do postage marketing of the calendars to potential clients. Each calendar costs 80 cents of A4 size. The total cost to send out a calendar is about $1.50 including stamps, cost of envelopes, etc. And not counting my work to stuff in the calendars and marketing letters. Also this morning, I got USD1.20 from my Google Adsense which I am quite pleased. The amount seems to be increasing a little with more traffic. And it is free money from the internet. So far, I have withdrawn 3 times from Adsense already using Western Union. The progress is slow, but something is better than nothing at all.
