With the inflation rate at about 4%, and your value of money decreasing by the year, have you ever considered to put your money to buy gold instead? Gold is a good hedge against inflation and the value of gold has been increasing steadily for the last 10 years. When I was small, a gram of gold costs only RM21.00 which has now balooned to RM126.00 per gram. So, if you have invested your money in gold at that point in time, you would have made money today. India is the biggest consumer of gold with its citizens wearing gold accessories to look attractive. I have also open a Gold Investment Account with Public Bank and bought about 40gm of gold to be put in the bank for at least 1 year.

I have had some measure of success making money online and it was very good. I offer virtual assistance, write articles, design web sites, earn from paid blogging and various advertisements on my several blogs. I am also reading books on the stocks and how to make money from it. Though I have never traded any real time online stocks, it was nevertheless enlightening to know that 10% of traders are actually making money. For others, they may resort to playing casino games with the two new casinos being recently opened in Singapore. If you have lady luck, then by all means you can turn to casino games to make money. And I count my blessings each day to earn bit by bit from time to time at my home office.

Yesterday, my first ever Nuffnang cheque arrive in the letter box and I promptly banked it in my account at Public Bank. The amount was for RM50.82 and after deducting RM1 for the charges, it came to RM49.82. Nevertheless it is still money from blog advertisements. I am elated that though the amount is not that much compared to other bloggers, to me, something coming in is better than nothing at all. Just click on the image above to enlarge the picture for a clearer view! Thank you, Nuffnang! Your programme certainly rocks and that is why so many bloggers are turning to Nuffnang compared to Adverlets. This is proof that Nuffnang definitely pays its fellow bloggers

Yesterday, I bought a book entitled “Secrets of Millionaire Investors” by Adam Khoo and Conrad Alvin Lim at MPH. What is interesting about the book was that Conrad shared how he became bankrupt owing S$170,000 and turned around his fortune to make more than S$1.5 million by trading on the USA market. His desperation to get out of bankruptcy made him attend several seminars on trading and to read up as much as he could in 3 months before he started trading a minimum of USD$5,000 on the USA account. Adam on the other hand, makes a cool S$12k a month trading less than 10 times a month and is doing this on a part time basis. He runs more than 10 different businesses and is a self-made millionaire in Singapore at the young age of 26. I am in no hurry to start trading until I have enough knowledge gleaned from these trading gurus and checking out local news.

gold bars

I am thinking of investing in shares but with a full time job, I just don’t have the time to keep track of the share market movements or check out blogs and news daily on events that might affect the prices. Professional stock investors analyse the volume spread, technical analysis, fundamental analysis, Elliot Wave, etc. To have a good peace of mind, I decided to buy government bonds and investing in gold by opening a Gold Investment Account (GIA) through Public Bank. I may earn less, but at least I don’t have the headache to keep track of the stock movements every moment of my life.

My wealthy uncle in Singapore also buy gold coins and give out to us during festive occasions like Chinese New Year. Now I have a small collection of gold jewellery and a gold coin – all collected since I was small. Gold is a good hedge against inflation which is about 4% per year. And for the last 10 years, the price of gold has been increasing steadily from only RM20 a gram in 1970s to over RM120 a gram now. So for those who have invested in gold, would have made a handsome profit now.

I was reading a book recently in MPH Readers’ Circle on investment by 2 writers. They talked about value spread analysis of the stocks which means reading the charts and analyse the movement of the herd or crowd to make gains and profits. It is different from fundamental analysis or technical analysis. One of my methods of investment is to buy gold and I have already opened a Gold Investment Account (GIA) with Public Bank. For those with more money to invest, you might like to consider methods to buy gold bullion for long term investment. I am in no hurry to invest in shares as it requires indepth knowledge and timing to buy and sell at the right time and constantly reading the news, financial blogs and to follow The Edge magazine for tips.

If you just keep your hard earned savings in the bank, it is going to depreciate due to inflation which is at 3-4% per year. Keeping it in the fixed deposits is not enough with only 2.5% per year. So you need to invest your cash in various money instruments like government bonds, unit trusts, share market or even buy gold bars through your local bank or other companies. Investment in gold is a wise decision because from the past 10 years of statictis, the price of gold has climbed steadily. You need to make your money work for you and hopefully your investments will reap profits later on. You also need to have sound financial knowledge before you embark on investing in the share market. Warren Buffett made all his money from the share market and he is the world’s greatest investor. From USD100,000 invested 40 years ago, it has compounded to more than a billion now! Buffett never sold any products to make money and his investment company sells the most expensive share in the world at USD100,000 per share!

This Christmas, many people around the world will be busy with merry making, holidaying and some will venture into online casino such playing the best online roulette. These people will be busy with their online thingy in the hope to make money during the long holidays by trying out the online casinos in the comforts of their homes. No need to dress up to stun and go to Las Vegas for a chance to win big at the slot machines or games tables. As for me, I will probably attend service on Christmas eve or some public Christmas functions in Penang and then head back home to watch tv. And it has been like this for many years since I returned to Penang from Singapore.

From my experience, there are a few ways to make money on the internet. One is to write articles and become a freelance writer. You can bid for the writing jobs online through various web sites. Do note that there are also dozens of other freelance writers bidding for the same job at very low rates or below market rate. But if the US dollar conversion rate is good, like 3.26 in my case in Malaysia, then it may be worth the time to bid for them. The other way to earn from the internet is through your blogs by writing sponsored reviews by signing with the many programs online. Craigslist is a useful web site with plenty of opportunities for you to earn some pocket money from the worldwide contacts.

Now it is about 2:10pm and my colleague will come fetch me to Kuala Lumpur in one hour’s time at around 3:00pm or so. I have finished writing 4 articles of 500 words for USD10 this morning and got paid immediately through my PayPal. This co-writer is from USA and writes articles full time at home. He sleeps at 4:00am and wakes up by 8:00am to continue writing articles. Just how hard working he is to earn money. And whatever extra work he has, he passes them to me. We have been chatting online via Yahoo Messenger. His payments are very prompt, immediately after I sent in my work. So far I have received US dollars from him for the few articles I have written so far. This is a very convenient arrangement as I work in my home office every day and get to write articles on a part time basis.

2 days ago, I was paid USD36 for the week’s job of writing articles. Not bad for a start. And my client from India contacted me directly from a freelancer’s web site. I have been in constant contact with her since then via Google Talk. Incidentally that was how I learn to use GTalk. Never knew it could be so fast and nifty this way. All the while I relied on Yahoo Messenger to chat but this is my first time talking to a client by opening up my Gmail account. I also got paid USD22.95 from the sale of one of my bestseller, 750 reports ebook. Check out the link now to see if this is what you wish to order.
