I just came back from Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi this week for business trips in both destinations. This time around, I did not buy any guys clothing as the time was too short for shopping. During my trip to Haadyai last year, I bought some guys clothing for my friend who has been very faithful to me. I had to specially choose the guys clothing from a departmental store and make sure that it fits his size – he is on the short side but quite muscular due to carrying heavy weights in his younger days while helping his late dad in the family hardware business.

I love and cherish the frienship of my friend who happens to be my boss as well for the last 7 plus years. Our friendship is good for the sports business as we meet up every day to discuss about the business and how to get more clients. I also print out customer enquiries from the emails and pass them to him to be notified and he will fax to me the replies before I type into the email reply to the customer. He can check his email via his iPad 2 but I will be the one to reply to them on his behalf. His old lap top is spoilt since some time back, so I am his only source for information revolving the company business.

It was a hectic business trip to Langkawi where we stayed for 1 night only after arriving late in the evening and took the ferry from Kuala Kedah. The trip by ferry took about 1.5 hours and then we headed for dinner before checking into a hotel. Early the next morning, after breakfast, we headed to a local resort there which wanted to turn its tennis court into a futsal court. Since they wanted the quotation by 15th September, I had to type there using the business centre while my colleague had to find a stationary shop to buy a big A4 size envelop. After that we headed back to the hotel where we had to check out by 1:00pm and went to a small coffee shop to wait for another potential client.

After discussing for 20 minutes, the client brought us to see his boss, which is a government body and our product was approved. Immediately he wrote a check to be cleared on the 25th September and my colleague managed to confirm another sports project. We returned the rented car, got back $50 and bought a ferry ticket for 6:00 pm ferry which could possibly be the last for the day. We had dinner at KFC and then promptly boarded the ferry which took 1.5 hours to read Kuala Kedah plus another 1.5 hours on the road by car to drive back to my house.

I stayed in Mutiara Hotel down south for a business trip for a day recently and then went to Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur to chill out for a night and had a free massage at the spa using our Elite Club member vouchers. The stay at the 5-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel was also free of charge using the Elite vouchers that I paid for $600. It was worth it as the 2-day free stay at the glitzy hotel was paid off more than the value of the vouchers. I also indulged myself in a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo gold flat pump shoes from Florence, Italy. It is a genuine leather pair and I don’t care to divulge how much I paid for it. My aunt who was formerly an advocate and solicitor in Singapore bought me a black pair flat pump shoes from Ferragamo last time many years ago. That is how I was introduced to the brand.

Now I am doing ok with my job. I also had to start from a humble beginning working in a carpet shop after calling it quits when working in Singapore as an executive for 6 long years. My years in Singapore were met with struggles and challenges one after another. Though I have had an easy job working as a sales assistant in the carpet shop, I was not happy with my lady boss or supervisor. She takes credit for the work I did and tries to make me look bad by writing an offence list of petty things to cover up her lateness of up to 1+ hours coming to work every day. Only another Indian colleague knows her faults but he keeps quiet about it in order to keep his job.

So while she is struggling now to make a living with her 10 blogs, I am doing pretty well now living with occasional frivolity and a little luxury now and then. Though the small carpet shop has closed down some time back, I will remember and learn the tricks of the marketing trade there. They used to offer terrazzo tile cleaning austin or even turkish rug cleaning austin and turko persian rug cleaning austin. You can check out the links given and surf the site to find out more.

Now is the monsoon season and it has been raining heavily these couple of weeks. There were flash floods in Alor Star, Kedah and even along the highways in the surrounding areas. Many homes were damaged due to the flood water and families have to evacuate to higher ground. In the press, the photo was captured showing hundreds of families evacuated to a school hall in Kedah where they rested and waited until the flood water subsided.

In USA, if there is any flash flood, you can have water damage insurance claim austin which is the answer to your problems in such a situation. Homes that are furnished with carpets on low grounds and are prone to flash floods, can contact natural carpet cleaner austin. There is also professional rug cleaning austin that you can contact in case of emergency and flash floods.

On a side note, while I was driving back from Kuala Lumpur for business, there was this huge 4-wheel drive vehicle that over took me on the right hand side and suddenly skidded to the left side of the road blocking my path during a heavy downpour. Then as fast as the vehicle hit the baricade on the left side, it was swung to the right side and hit the divider and spun for a while before coming to a an abrupt halt. It was a near accident and I thank God for my divine protection from a potential nasty accident. Most road accidents happen when there is a heavy rain and inexperienced drivers tend to speed.

Yesterday, I was on the way back from KL to Penang when it rained heavily on the highway. Then suddenly this four-wheel drive overtook me on the right side and suddenly skidded to the left, cutting my path and slammed to the barricade and got flung out to the right side and hit the divider, spun around and came to a complete stop! The driver was just a young teenage girl driving such a huge vehicle! She must have gotten the shock of her life being caught in this type of accident all happened right in front of my car that I was driving. God must have protected my colleague and me as we came out unharmed though it was a very close shave! She could have hit us and it would have been a bad accident with much injuries to the smaller car that we were travelling in! That is why, there will always be accidents on the road whenever it rains!

Yesterday, we travelled to Perak to meet up with friends and had very very large fish head with vegetables and bak kut teh. The meal was simply delicious and I loved the bak kut teh plus the fish head with lots and lots of onions – my favourite. Both couple was very hospitable, dishing out for me food each time I am about to finish. They also happen to own a large piece of land and stays in a nice bungalow. However, the wife talked in a very hoarse voice as once of her vocal cords was paralysed since 10 years ago. She was a friendly lady from Surabaya and has a child. The day trip to Perak was worth it but quite tiring.

I will be going down to KL again after Hari Raya next week for business trip. We plan to meet a few people and kill two birds in one stone. So, our trip down to KL won’t go to waste by just meeting one potential client. It is a blessing in disguise that we are renting an apartment in Subang Jaya instead of staying in a hotel which will cost a bomb considering I go down to KL so often. It is like a second home to me now while travelling. We have loyal Chinese workers who rent a whole house for the staff to stay and does all the work for our KL clients.

Tomorrow my colleague will be going to Sg. Petani to meet up with a client and then will decide when to go to KL for business again sometime this week. I have travelled down to KL umpteen times and thank God, no accidents or bad things happen to us while travelling on the North-South Highway. There were a few instances where we could have met an accident, but God has been protecting us and the business. That’s why I need to pray constantly as I can never take my safety and protection for granted. Luckily, my colleague is a Christian and realizes the importance of prayer for journey mercies and business success.

Christmas is exactly 1 week away and there are a lot of advertisements in the newspapers of combined churches performances and carollings in the various places. The Penang Chief Minister has been invited to attend as well and to open some of these functions. I have been looking forward to one particular event, but alas, I cannot attend anymore as I have to go to KL for work during that time. But the good news is that I will be home during Christmas and plan to watch the many interesting channels on Direct TV. There will be many Christmas themed programs on December 25 and I plan to just turn on the DirectTV and simply enjoy the wide repertoire of channels during this festive season.

This is even better than going to the movies where you have to queue up to buy your tickets, and wait for the show to start after parking your car somewhere. But with Directv, all you need is a tv screen and a cosy place to start enjoying the shows and various channels. What better place than right in the comforts of your own home, no matter how untidy and cluttered it is.

I might also attend church service for Christmas eve if I am up for it – otherwise I will just stay at home to watch tv. And it has been like this for the last 10 years since I came back from Singapore in 2000. I still miss the Orchard Road decorations, but home life is better – no more stress of staying alone with a wierd neighbour who cannot leave you alone or being out of a job several times. Those are history now and I am going to turn on the tv soon.

Now it is about 2:10pm and my colleague will come fetch me to Kuala Lumpur in one hour’s time at around 3:00pm or so. I have finished writing 4 articles of 500 words for USD10 this morning and got paid immediately through my PayPal. This co-writer is from USA and writes articles full time at home. He sleeps at 4:00am and wakes up by 8:00am to continue writing articles. Just how hard working he is to earn money. And whatever extra work he has, he passes them to me. We have been chatting online via Yahoo Messenger. His payments are very prompt, immediately after I sent in my work. So far I have received US dollars from him for the few articles I have written so far. This is a very convenient arrangement as I work in my home office every day and get to write articles on a part time basis.

I am now in Kuala Lumpur for the third day already. I will only be going back on Friday which is in two days time. This is one of the longest trip to KL. And it has been raining heavily almost every day with thunderstorms. Even as I am blogging here, I can hear the thunder in the distance. I need to log off soon and switch off the modem to protect it from lightning strike. I better end here before the lap top is ‘fried’ and need to send to the technician for change of components. Have a good week.

I came back from KL a few days ago. Was there for 3 days 2 nights in KL. We drove down by car to attend to business and then drove back to Penang which took about 5 hours per trip. This time, we did not stop in Tapah to buy fruits as it was raining heavily. It is dangerous to drive fast on a rainy day because the brake may not work so well on wet roads and slippery floors. The rain came to a drizzle when we reached Penang at about 7:00pm. The rain is good for the car because it cools down the engine which may be heated up for long drives. I might need to go back to KL next week, but at the moment, it is not confirmed which date.

I stayed in Grand Continental Hotel in Kuala Terengganu 2 days ago. My boss drove us from Penang to Kulim, then to Baling, Gerik in Perak, Jeli, Machang in Kelantan and then down to Kuala Terengganu which is about 2 hours’ drive from Machang. It was a fruitful trip and we secured the business deal. It was my first trip to Terengganu which is nearer to drive from Penang rather than Karak Highway in KL. All in all the journey took about 7 hours by car moving at 80-100km per hour. Below are the photos I took during the trip there.

This photo was shot just behind the registration counter in Grand Continental Hotel which incidentally was located by the beautiful beach.

I was in Kuala Lumpur a couple of days back and will be going to Kuala Terengganu by car on Easter Sunday. Though I heard that the roads leading to Terengganu are winding, I hope the ride will not be bumpy. My boss and I plan to meet up with our client for sports project over there and hopefully the sale can be closed on the same day. This will be my first trip to Terengganu, the only state that I have never been in West Peninsular Malaysia. Also, I have been to Bintulu, Sarawak before, leaving Sabah as the only other state that I have yet to visit. We plan to stay 2 nights there in Grand Continental Hotel.

I prefer to travel using the North-South Highway that is smooth and easy flow of traffic. Going to the East Coast gives me jitters whether the car will break down halfway in the God forsaken place. There is very little traffic and asking for help from PlusLine is almost impossible. So, I better pray for a smooth, unhindered drive down to Kuala Terengganu.
