Yesterday, I was elated. I managed to withdraw RM3,000 maximum a day from CIMB bank ATM using my new Virtual Money Inc (VMI) debit card as recommended by Hong Kiat. After activating the VMI card, I accidentally keyed in my 6 digit access code instead of the 4 digit pin no and after 3 tries, my card was blocked. Thank goodness, the card was not ‘swallowed’ by the Automated Teller Machine. I emailed millie@mooncash.com to unblock my card for free.

After 2 days, she did unblock my VMI debit card and yesterday, I managed to withdraw RM3,000 in two separate withdrawals of maximum RM1,500 each. I still have some money left in my USA bank account (SouthWest Bank). You cannot withdraw more than RM3,000 a day, so the money left can be used to pay for the monthly account service fees of USD2.70 and you need to have USD10 left in your bank account. Whatever the skeptics say, thank goodness my new VMI debit card really works and I don’t have to depend on other people or trouble friends to withdraw for me. At least I don’t have to be at the mercy of others to transfer my PayPal money or accept a lower rate of US dollars from the money laundering services.

Tomorrow morning at around 10:00am or so, my colleague will come and fetch me to Lumut to meet up with a likely client for sports courts. I have to put aside my mourning and grieving moments upon granny’s death and continue to work hard for this prosperous company. I am sure that is what granny would like me to do and granny leaves a legacy of diligence and conscientiousness in her grandchildren. Life has to go on and we have to make the best of each day. My second sister has paid for 11 prayer masses to be prayed over by the church bishop in Suchou and my dad has paid for 14 prayer masses in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. With prayer warriors for granny’s departed soul, I hope she will have a better life in heaven where there is no more suffering, weakness and slow decay of the body.

My nonagenarian 94 year old paternal granny passed away while having dinner at 5.15pm yesterday in Than Hsiang Temple old folks home. Her head just nod down while the maid were feeding her dinner. In recent weeks she was getting weaker, unable to feed herself anymore and the diapers has to be changed like a baby. She has gone to a better place and no longer feels weak anymore.

She’s the one whom I spent the most time with as she took care of me while both my parents went out to work. Granny was widowed young at around 32 with 4 children to bring up single-handedly. She had to sell laksa, a type of fish soup salad, waking up at 4:30 am every day to pound lots of onions, de-bone the fish and prepare other condiments for the laksa. She worked very hard and was single-minded in whatever she does. Due to the harsh environment, granny was naturally very strict in upbringing her kids and me. Even at the age of 60+, granny still cycled alone to the Jelutong market every day to buy and cook dishes for us while we were still small and schooling. She did this every day, until one day my dad told her she no longer have to slought so hard to prepare food for the family.

I pray that Eternal Rest is upon Granny and her life will be peaceful and joyful in heaven. I did let her read the words, “Jesus, I trust in you,” when she was able and she nodded her head of accepting Jesus into her life. A few days before she passed away, she did give hints that she will go to a better place and she knew she will leave this life quite soon. This was mentioned by the fellow residents there who are in constant touch with Granny. I love you, my Beloved Granny.

I don’t know how a baby bird not more than 2 inches could drop 6 feet down to the bathroom floor from its nest. When I picked it up, it was still breathing heavily and put it back into its nest. A few moments later, the bird still still and no longer breathing. What a pity. It was the second one to hatch after its older and more dominant sibling which is still very much alive. At the slightest shake of the nest, thinking its mother bird is there to feed it, the birdling will open its mouth very wide. I was hoping the two birds will grow to adulthood but looks like only one will probably survive.

Since 15 April last month, my Paypal was put on restricted limitation because I tried to add a USA bank account after reading Hong Kiat’s website on how to withdraw for Malaysian Paypal account holders by using a Virtual Money Inc debit card. It was frustrating and annoying especially after I have faxed to them several pages of my identity card, driver’s license, and a copy of my telephone bills and credit card bills. It was not enough then and they asked for my USA bank checking number which I gave including the SWIFT code.

However, Paypal team still pressed further and asked for my banking transaction proof with my USA bank account. Now this annoys me as I don’t have any transaction with them. It is a virtual bank account and a new one at that. With all due respect, I scanned and emailed them all the brochures, terms and conditions, card number, etc that I have which came to about more than 6 pages. After 4-5 days later, there was no response and yesterday I emailed them again of my many details and reminder to check my scanned images. Today, my PayPal account is fully restored. Thank goodness and I quickly withdraw all accummulated monies for 1 month amounting to more than US dollar 1k, using my USA bank account. Hopefully I can take out all my pending cash from a local ATM with the Cirrus logo.

Yesterday, I signed up for Flickr Pro account and upgraded from a free one to USD24.99 a year and I signed up for 2 years at USD49.98. I have more than 200 photos in the database and have used up all the available free slots. Since I take photos often and feature them in my many blogs, I figured that it is better than I use a paid account to continue allowing my readers see the beautiful photos that I have taken. Otherwise the limitation is that only the last 200 photos will be shown for the free account.

Loans are a blessings to all of us. Without them, we won’t be able to afford the lifestyle that we are currently enjoying. For instance, I managed to get a personal secured loans for my new car, a Myvi 1.3A EZ metallic olive green in color.

Moreover, the whole family also chipped in to replace the old fridge and washing machine that have been at least 20 years old for both and not functioning so well. We could afford it as every member of the family contributed a sum each. But for those who’s kids are still schooling and cannot afford to change the spoilt fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, etc, then you might like to consider getting a Home Improvement Loans. For others, they might like to take up Unsecured Loans for their personal use.

SWIFT code is an industry cooperative that provides a standard format for transmitting payments, stock transactions, letters of credit and other financial messages to more than 7,500 member banks, broker-dealers and investment organizations around the world. Founded in 1973 as the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, millions of transactions worth several trillions of dollars are sent each day with an average transit time of 20 seconds. Working like a bank routing number, a SWIFT code is widely used to transfer funds between banks.

Affin Bank Berhad = PHBMMYKL
Alliance Bank Berhad = MFBBMYKL
Ambank Berhad = ARBKMYKL
Bank Simpanan Nasional = BSNAMYKL
Bumiputra-Commerce Bank Berhad = BCBMMYKL
CIMB Bank Berhad = CIBBMYKL
Citibank Berhad Malaysia = CITIMYKL
Hong Kong Bank Malaysia Berhad = HBMBMYKL
Hong Leong Bank Berhad = HLBBMYKL
Malayan Banking Berhad = MBBEMYKL
OCBC Bank Berhad = OCBCMYKL
Public Bank Berhad = PBBEMYKL
RHB Bank Berhad = RHBBMYKL
Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad = SCBLMYKL
Southern Bank Berhad = STHBMYKL
United Overseas Bank Berhad = UOVBMYKL

The above information is useful if you need to enter your bank’s SWIFT code to receive international payment. This saves the bother of calling up the bank and finding out from some officers who may not know what in the world a SWIFT code is. From personal experience, I have actually called up Maybank to ask for their SWIFT code and guess what I got as the reply after passing the phone from one person to the other and the other: MBBEMYKLA (note the ending with an A and I still have it jotted in down in my diary!) Just imagine that’s the wrong reply that I got from a local bank!!

My weight has gone up quite substantially as I have been dining in restaurants and having good food. I am also a lover of delicious food and have some favorite dishes that I normally order again and again. Once I have a liking for the flavor, I will stick to it and hardly ever experiment around unless I am dining in new places. With my frequent travelling recently, it is not surprising that I have also been to quite a few places, mostly treated by my colleague. As today is mother’s day, it is my turn to treat her now and invite the family for a good dinner. It was hinted by my dad, so I need to oblige as I have also earned more this month from my commissions.

Mother’s day
Today is Mother’s day and I would like to wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day. I will be treating my family on this day at Maple Gold. It was fully booked but since my mum knows the captain, she has allocated a table of 5 for us. The dishes are sharks’ fin soup with extra crab meat, brocolli with scallops, butter nestum prawns, ‘choong piah’, stream pomfret and free fruits.

I got a cute clay picture frame from my church today though I did not stand up when the pastor announced that all mothers are to stand up to receive prayer and a gift. In fact, 2 kids came up to me to give me the gifts but I had to decline the second one as I has already received my ‘mother’s day’ souvenir. You see, I don’t want to appear too greedy taking double portions, though the temptation was there.
