The photo above was taken in my garden or rather my parents’ one showing a small yellow breasted bird has made its nest in our garden hedge and laid an egg. I am waiting for the egg to hatch in a few days’ time and capture photos of the baby bird. By the way, this is the second time the same pair of birds have make their nests in the same spot but the last time when they built their nest, the 2 birdlings were probably devoured by a cat. I hope this time the little bird will be luckier.

May the year of the Piggy fill your piggy banks and fill your year with good success!

Above is a Chinese New Year lantern that most Chinese homes will display and hang on their homes for good luck and prosperity and to drive away negative elements. My neighbour has put up 2 in their house and I took the liberty to find this picture from istockphoto to display it here. lol. This is akin to my blog putting up the red Chinese New Year lantern to usher in the year of the Piggy and to fill my Piggy bank.:D

Above is the photo which will be put up shortly of the red packets or ‘ang pows’ that I got this year. Though they are not many, but it is in keeping the tradition and I get money just for staying single.
Well, I would like to get married and give out ang pows really but at the moment, I am happy and contented with the status quo.
Here is a photo of my small collection of ‘Ang Pows’ or red packets that are given out during the auspiciuos Chinese New Year. These are 2007 collection that I got while buying the cinema tickets, packet drinks, from banks and other various places.

Citrus fortunella japonica or ‘Kumkuat’ is suppose to bring good luck during the Chinese New Year. These plants are sold aplenty during this season and the Chinese just love them. The ‘kumkuat’ fruit is golden orange symbolizing prosperity just like the bigger Mandarin oranges. Chinese New Year is a time for social gathering, giving out red packets of money or ‘ang-pows’ by the married ones to the unmarried people for good fortune. This tradition has been brought down for generations. Happy Chinese New Year to all the readers of this blog.
The super grain by eating Anutra by itself has nutritional benefits based on clinical studies. Supposed the best source for Omega-3’s, Anutra’s greatest value as a super grain lies in its extremely high content of Omega-3 fatty acids. Since the 1970′s, researchers have been noting the importance of Omega-3′s as a dietary factor in achieving optimum health and for the heart.
A form of polyunsaturated fat, Omega-3′s are one of four types of fat derived from food sources along with saturated fat, monounsaturated fat and trans-fat. All poly- and mono-unsaturated fats including Omega-3′s offer benefits to good health and are considered the “fats of life.”
Foods that are high in saturated fat and trans fat have been associated with the development of many health issues, including heart disease and cancer. However, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are the “good fats.” Omega-3′s, and Omega-6′s (another type of polyunsaturated fat), are essential fatty acids (EFA’s). The body cannot make these important fats, so they must be obtained through diet.
Omega-6′s are found naturally in cereals and whole grain breads. Omega-3′s are found in cold-water fish such as salmon, herring, sardines, tuna, mackerel and halibut; in dark green leafy vegetables; and in certain vegetable oils. Health experts agree that consuming a good ratio of these two EFA’s is a vital key to optimum health. Anutra now provides the single greatest, and safest, source of Omega-3′s as well as lignan. Only 2 tablespoons of Anutra provides 1,275 mg of Lignans. By comparison, the same serving size of Flax contains approximately 50 mg of Lignans.

The photo above was taken in PESTA premise in Penang. As it is now the Chinese New Year, the Penang state government has erected a Grand Stand to celebrate this joyous occasion… the lights were bright and cheery, so I took the opportunity to snap this shot as my friend drove by. It was a little risky to stop on the road with many cars and bikes passing by at night, but thank goodness, they avoided us as I quickly focused my camera and shot the photo.
Mandarin oranges are given during Chinese New Year to usher in luck and prosperity. I have made some orange peel art below. Though it is no great works of art, but it is a novice’s first time attempt to create something from the resources available aplenty at the moment – orange peels. Happy New Year to all!
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my readers a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year in 2007. I will still continue blogging now and then but will also spend some time meeting a few friends and relatives.
Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT) is a presentation tool and you can create slide shows, add animated text and pictures to make your presentation more interesting. Welcome to PowerPoint MarketPlace. This site is focused on allowing its users to publish, trade and sell content in PowerPoint presentation format. And anyone with PowerPoint files is welcomed to post their files, slide presentations, etc… You can even make money selling your PowerPoint presentations via this new beta site.
This is a marketplace where all of their PPT decks could be put on display for others, and exchanged, and even sold. For myself, I have learnt how to creat PPT slides during my trainee teacher course in Singapore which lasted 1 year. It was fun and I especially enjoyed IT classes. We were taught to even add sound and human voice recordings to the slides to make them more real and to give them the extra oomph! So, jump in – and while the site is in beta, feel free to try all the features out. If anything breaks, let them know in the forums. As they don’t expect any significant issues, but at the risk of sounding redundant, this is a beta version of the software. So, all feedback are welcomed, please do let them know what you like and don’t like.

Life is stressful. Remedy? Just take ice cream. As for me, it is soothing to the throat and is cathartic, not that I take a lot. I happen to do some window-shopping and stumble upon this exciting ice-cream cake with cute faces and cone hats from Baskin Robbins. And I just couldn’t resist taking a snap shot. I suppose it is not often I get to see cakes like this in Malaysia but being a new outlet in Queensbay, I guess we Penangites are getting luckier.

Here are more ice cream cakes to feast my eyes on and for posterity of the baker’s creativity.

As my bf and I were waiting for our movie entitled Babel, we feasted on ice cream from Swensen’s on the third floor. I ordered a mint flavored one, hence the green color while he had rich chocolate. Food has always appealed to most people and that’s the only reason I like to put up some interesting photos.
Laser therapy is the latest treatment around with sharp and precise incision. The laser can even slice or burn away the cornea layer of the eyes for myopic correction. Dr. Phil Harrington is the first provider in the state of Iowa, USA to offer such treatment called Class IV Laser Therapy. If you need laser therapy, you can visit Harrington Chiropractic, PC and Laser Therapy Center in Iowa. This site is to inform doctors and patients about laser therapy that’s available with the advancement of the technology. It aims to educate doctors about the differences between ‘cold’ lasers and Class IV Therapeutic Lasers, such as the K-Laser. This is an interesting new form of treatment for chronic pain and other conditions from laser therapy.
A friend used to wear huge black and thick glasses for his myopia. It makes him look years beyond his age. Then he decided to pay around $6,000 to correct both pair of eyes using laser therapy in Mt Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. It was a fast procedure and after the surgery, he was advised to rest his eyes for a day or so. Both the eyes were covered by cotton gauges to prevent eye straining. After a few days, he had perfect vision! As an aside, a recent report in The Star states that a man was blind both eyes after his glaucoma surgery. Though he was warned to rest for a few days, this naĂŻve man decided to start working immediately in a construction site and in the process burst his eye vessels. And he went blind after that!
