BarnYard the Movie

When I went to see this movie last night, BarnYard, I didn’t know Steve Oedekerk wrote and directed it. Anyone who’s seen High Strung might remember how the character wrote children’s books. Well, let me put your fears to rest. Barnyard, starring Kevin James (of King of Queens), Courtney Cox, Sam Elliot, Andie MacDowell, and Danny Glover, is the best kids’ movie there’s gonna be this year. While there are some scary parts involving coyotes, this movie is light-years ahead of any other animated feature out there. The humor is mostly appropriate, not immature. Your kids will have a good time, and so will you. It was very poorly received on Rotten Tomatoes, but most of the criticism concerned male cows having udders. I don’t think your kids will care. They’re going to be having too much fun. The language is decent (the word “hell” is used once, in song). There’s some violence, but it’s not graphic and there’s no blood. It’s a very good story. It is very entertaining and I highly recommend this movie.
