Today, my second sister got her second interview from Hong Kong to lecture English in Suchou, China. I guess being jobless currently, she may to accept whatever they offer her though in the interview it was mentioned that they could not match her last drawn salary as a lecturer in Singapore’s top junior college, Hwa Chong of S$4,300. My sis is the type to get bored easily and she was just tired of marking and correcting scores of students’ essays every day. Well, she worked in her first job as a teacher for about 8 years before deciding to do something else like lecturing in a university. Her headmaster did tell her to consider her decision carefully before resigning to make sure this is what she really wants. My dad was a bit sad when my sister has already made up her mind to quit teaching in Singapore. She used to be the biggest contributor to the household while earning a good salary there.

It is true, it is difficult to uproot and stay there for 2years lecturing, not earning your current payscales, foregoing your comfort zones.
HK U is now on recruitment drive in Malaysia. I am also being consider as potential applicant. I am hesitating because it is a lot to give up and after one completed the contract, the person coming home literally start all over from scratch. It is not easy.

Joyce, thanks for dropping by. My sister has settled down comfortably in Suchou and this coming August, she will be coming back for about 2 weeks break from China. Good to hear that Hong Kong U is on recruitment drive at the moment. As to apply for this job or not, it depends on you and if you love to travel places like my sister, then it is a golden opportunity. But yes, when the contract ends, you may need to uproot and search again, but then they might renew your contract for another 2 more years.
