North South Highway along Malaysia
From 29th to the 30th August, I went to Kuala Lumpur again for a meeting with my boss. This is my third trip to KL this month. We drove down on Tuesday evening at about 4:00 pm after my boss has cleared his work for the day. He drove down using his company car and I captured some photos along the North-South Highway. Photo 1 shows the oil palm plantation before reaching Ipoh. Along the highway, near Ipoh, there are beautiful granite hills covered with thick rain forrest trees that are evergreen all year round as shown in Photos 2 and 3, but not too clear as the car was moving at about 110km per hour or so. When it was near Ipoh, there is a long tunnel that cuts through a hill as shown in Photo 4.

Dinner at Delifrance in Jaya Jusco
When we reached Ipoh, it was about 6:30pm, in time for dinner. My boss parked his car in the free car park of Jaya Jusco, a huge shopping mall in Ipoh. We went straight to Delifrance as we don’t have it in Penang. The outlet in Penang was closed long time ago, due to stiff competition from the cheap hawkers’ food in Penang. When I was working and staying in Singapore, I will definitely order from Delifrance near the City Hall MRT station in metropolitan Singapore. Life in Singapore then was kind of lonely as everyone is only busy making money and more money to afford branded goods. As usual, I ordered a set that comes with a croissant with tuna with extra topping of egg and mushroom soup with hot tea. My boss ordered a set of peppered chicken with a croissant and his usual hot coffee without sugar and soup. In Singapore, I will order a side dish of spinash Quiche, but here in Jaya Jusco, they happened to serve Quiche Lorraine as shown in Photo 4 which is acutally egg custard with plenty of button muchrooms in a pastry. After dinner in Ipoh, we drove further down past Tapah, Rawang, Sungai Buloh, Subang Jaya and following the road sign and directions and finally arrive in Sunway’s Piramid Tower Hotel at about 10:00pm. I helped to navigate the directions and thank goodness, we did not miss any turns or lost our way. Months ago, an overnight stay with buffet style breakfast cost about Ringgit Malaysia 230.00++. Now apparently due the peak season and the holidays just ended, the stay for 1 night for 2 persons were RM402.50 inclusive of 10% service charge and government tax. The room alone was RM350 with breakfast. Anyway, this is taken care of by company expenses. I took the liberty to capture more photos of the hotel’s ambience from the lift (Photo 1) to intricate wood carvings along the corridor (Photo 2), and even faux bananas in a transparent rectangular container (Photo3) and along the corridor, a shot near our room (Photo4). Our room number was 6152 for 6th floor and room number 152 with the directions clearly stated below the display of artificial bananas. Quite an ingenious way of remembering the ‘maze’ route to our room.

Hotel room of Piramid Tower
Upon entering the room, I quickly took snapshots of the bathroom in Photos 1 and 2. You can even see the hair dryer and a phone installed in the bathroom in Photo 2. Photo 3 shows the orange chair and dark wood table and the double single beds are depicted in Photo 4. The room has bright orange feel to it. Even the walls are painted bright orange and complemented with dark brown wood furnishings. It was time for our rest after about 6 hours drive from Penang including stopover for dinner in Ipoh for 1 hour. Sleep came naturally after a long journey.
